VertNet Networks

MaNIS, HerpNET, ORNIS and FishNet are taxon-based, distributed database networks of natural history collection data. Each network has a separate search portal that is designed to query the participating institutions and return results in a standardized format. You can search for collection data as well as map specimens that have latitude and longitude coordinates.

One of the priorities of the VertNet project is to improve the efficiency and utility of the search and the mapping tools. If you have suggestions for improving these features, let us know.

VertNet Publishers

Currently, across four portals, there are 72 unique institutions globally with 59 more who have committed to or expressed interest in participating. Together, these networks provide open access to approximately 84.3 million vertebrate records.
